The Real Crossing of the Red Sea

Critics have long derided the biblical account of the children of Israel crossing the Red Sea in one night.

Exodus 2:15 - Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in MIDIAN.

Midian is clearly located South and East of the Sinai peninsula and is now part of Saudi Arabia. (And has been so known even since biblical times - Gal 4:25)

Exodus 3:1 - Moses was tending the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the Priest of Midian. He led his flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, The Mountain of GOD.

Exodus 3:12 - And GOD said, “I will be with you and this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship GOD on This mountain (Still in Midian)

Exodus 12:37 - They journeyed from Ramses to Succoth (no doubt picking up people as they went) There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. (At least 2 million souls)

In the 5th century, the emperor Justinian declared a mountain on the Sinai peninsula to be “mount Sinai”, the mountain of God where the ten commandments were given and a monastery was built there, later named “St Catherines”. But, that mountain in no way fulfils the biblical description or location.

A wide strip along the East bank of the Red Sea is wide and smooth enough for an army of 2 million plus people to transit and appears to be the “ Desert road toward the Red Sea” mentioned in Exodus 13:18.

This road was the ancient trade route, but the trade route curved East and North because at the straits of Tiran, the sea route ends abruptly when it encounters some high mountains extending right to the water. It is here that an arm of the Red Sea extends North and East to Ezion Geber (see map).

It was here that GOD set a trap for the Egyptians, using the Israelis as bait. Exodus 14:1- 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the Sea. They are to encamp by the sea , directly opposite Baal Zephon. Pharaoh will think, ‘the Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert. And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and he will pursue them, but I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord”. So the Israelites did this.

This was precisely the spot where a 500 yard wide coral reef runs across, so near to the surface it shows on satelite imagery and easily providing a highway wide enough and short enough (about two miles) for two million people with their animals to cross in a single night once God blew away the surface water. God does not do things half way.

Described in detail in the book, “The Mountain of GOD” by Robert Cornuke and David Halbrook, it reveals a mountain known as “Jabal Al Lawz” that has sufficient flat land around it to accommodate two million campers, has remains of ancient altars, and among other features is “scorched” on top. Basalt rocks, normal on the inside but partially melted on the surface - yet no hint of volcanism. See Exodus 19:18 Clearly, GOD WAS THERE.

This great Hebrew/Christian relic, preserved through the centuries by the paranoid Arab government, has been penetrated by some (recklessly?) brave adventurers who slipped into the Saudi Kingdom, examined and photographed it and escaped with their lives, bodies and film intact.

Red Sea Crossing point Map of the Sinai Peninsula

There is never a shortage of unbelievers who are ready with a bunch of fantasies to explain away GOD.  Some say they didn't cross the Red Sea, but a swamp called the "Reed Sea".  God was directing them and providing night and day light so they could travel fast and get away from Pharaoh.  How pathetically rediculous to think he would lead them off the road into a swamp .  Equally rediculous to think the Egyptians would follow them into a swamp, rather than go around and catch them as they emerged.  The Biblical account indicates they took more than two months to make the trip to Mt Sinai.  The swamp known as "The Reed Sea" is only a two or three days walk out of The Goshen area of Egypt (where the Israelites lived)

The bible repeatedly states they went to MIDIAN.  The Sinai peninsula was Egyptian territory (They had mining operations there).  Staying on that peninsula would have made them vulnerable to recapture.

The Traditional Mt Sinai is a fraud.
