Superstition - and science

Explorers in tropical Africa as well as Central America and various parts of Asia, encounter people who have lost the concept of GOD the creator and, instead worship animals, trees, the sun, the moon - in other words, what we call “Nature”. Human beings are worshiping creatures and all find something or somebody to worship.

In the middle ages, some people became convinced that cats, on account of their weird behavior, were demonic. As a result most of the cats in Europe were killed. That made life pretty comfortable for rats and mice and soon their numbers exploded. The immediate result was damage to the food supply. A little later though, it got really bad when bubonic plague entered Europe by rodents, and there weren’t many cats left to reduce their numbers - estimates say about a third of Europe’s population died. But that’s all behind us now? We’ve overcome that superstition and cats are common household pets - right?

We, “enlightened” folk disdain the worship of animals - - - - well, not quite, we try to rebuild and protect the packs of destructive wolves that once ruled our land and our gov’t comes down hard on anybody who tries to protect themselves and livestock from them - - -

see:  www.marvchastain\Wolf Story

Oh! and then there is the sacred whale! When the Makahs killed a whale (in accordance with a US Gov’t treaty and with international permission) a few years ago, all hell broke loose. The state patrol send one dozen cars loaded with police. The National Guard sent a big contingent and the Sheriff was there too. Driving down 101 (as we did) looked like WW3 had started for sure.

But, we don’t worship the stars - - well, not quite, but we spend huge amounts of money using big complex radio receivers searching for “coded information” in the abundant electronic static coming from space. (Never mind the coded information in human genes) But then, we don’t worship fish - - well, except for the sacred salmon - - - which has become an excuse for destroying the Elwha Valley ecosystem (which project itself is in reality the “rewilding” of the Olympic Peninsula - another kind of earth worship).

Come to really consider, we have not gotten over superstition. We just parse it a little differently.

We have considered one tiny factor in our weather (Carbon dioxide) and turned it into a superstition. Of course, not to seem totally ignorant, we have changed “Global Warming” to “Climate Change”. That doesn’t make it any more scientific, but it is a helpful to sustain the theory, now that much of the earth appears to be cooling.

What’s that you say? A scientific theory?

Science can prove that CO2 will hold some heat and slow down it’s escape, so to that extent it is scientific. And, no doubt that will have some effect on the weather. If you build a bonfire and roast some wieners, that too will have some effect on the weather. But, in neither case can the effect be quantified. Therein lies the problem.

~Huge, devastating actions taken by radical blowup of an obscure fact, ceases to be scientific and gets into the area of religion, superstition or whatever you want to call it - but not science~~~~.

Instead of making the great “leap of faith” that says cats are demons, we are making the great leap of faith that says carbon dioxide is going to devastate the earth. (But how will vegetable matter exist without it?) Instead of John Tetsel selling “indulgences”, (objected to by Martin Luther), we have Al Gore selling carbon credits - - - same phoney deal.

The real problem is the ego of man. Some humans have a hard time with the fact that an intelligence so far superior to theirs that comparison is impossible, is guiding, controlling and creating. They persist in the idea that any problem is subject to man’s manipulation and weather must be one of those. They cannot accept that almighty GOD created everything and has not put some things into the power of man. (thankfully) But, so long as government and misled people keep shelling out the money, the global warming beat goes on.

We are now just beginning to see that great harm the CO2 superstition has in store for us, in the high price we are paying for fuel. We sit on the greatest store of oil and coal found so far anywhere in the world, while our enemies are busy developing theirs - in many cases with our money and expertise. Until we sober up, it’s not going to get better - only worse.

Human reasoning that ignores the reality of GOD is deficient and loaded with extreme error. We need to get back to the once majority belief in GOD and his care for us.
