Why 9/11 was easily preventable

The politicos are now pointing fingers at each other, trying to shift
the blame for the stupidity in
allowing a bunch of middle eastern yahoos to attack this country
and murder nearly 3000 of our
citizens besides doing enormous damage to some of our buildings.
Some of them are saying it
couldn't have been prevented. Baloney!
Nobody with a .45 on his hip is going to allow some yahoos to cut his
throat with a box cutter.
The stupid bureaucrats in both Clinton and Bush administrations
refused to arm the
pilots -- -- and worst of all, are still dragging their feet
in doing so, even after congress
passed a law. The pilot's union says only about 5% of pilots
have been certified to pack
a sidearm. The FAA put the "training" station a day's automobile
drive from the
nearest airport and give an intensive questioning that some pilots
fear a "wrong"
answer to could ruin their careers. Yet, we give guns to
street cops !!!
Back in the sane 1950s, a Northwest airlines flight took off from Seattle
and a crazy passenger
forced his way into the pilot's compartment and attacked one of the
pilots.
The other pilot took a pistol out of his flight bag and shot the
guy - DEAD!
Most of the pilots now working for the airlines previously were in the
USAF and flew many hours
with a pistol on their hip. Why in heaven's name should they not be
allowed to do the same in
today's world where the potential for needing a side arm is much much
more than it was in the USAF?
Some people say "Oh, they might go berserk and shoot up the plane".
Well, if they are emotionally
stable enough to fly a $50 million dollar airplane loaded with passengers,
they certainly are stable
enough to carry a gun.
Others say, "Oh, a gunshot could rupture the fuselage and cause a loss
of cabin pressure". Folks
who say that do not realize that a commercial aircraft has many pressure
leaks bigger than a .half
inch hole and have big compressors which put out enough air to cover.
Moreover, would a slight
decompression be more disasterous than flying into a building???

One idiotic remedy that has been suggested is arming pilots with Stun Guns.
A stun gun works on high voltage electricity which temporarily paralyzes
the recipient. Modern
aircraft are run mostly by computers. Computers work on very low voltage
electricity. Firing a
stun gun in a plane would be infinitely more dangerous than shooting
a pistol, because it could
very easily disable the aircraft's computers, and bring the plane down.
The real problem is an hysterical fear of guns instilled by the "Gun Ban Crowd".
