Gun ban enthusiasts at the UN are working on a treaty they
hope to put through
around the world that would outlaw guns in the hands of private
individuals.
The Second amendment to the US Constitution specifies that "The right
of the
people to bear arms shall not be infringed".
Well, the US Congress has certainly "infringed" upon the right of
the people to
bear arms, but they have never gotten so bold as to prohibit it.
The US Supreme
Court has ruled that international treaties once properly
signed by the president
and approved by the Senate become the law of the land and supercede
the US
Constitution.
President George Bush certainly would never sign such a crippling
treaty - - but,
what of future presidents? Hillary for instance, who has always
been for any and
all kinds of gun "control".
Guns have been outlawed in the UK and in Australia. That has spawned
an
enormous increase in crime, particularly crimes that involve guns.
(Statistically,
you are now six times as likely to be mugged in London as in New
York)
Washington, DC outlawed guns 30 years ago, creating a crime
environment that
has become so bad that the US House recently passed a law to "outlaw
the outlaw
law". (but the Senate let it die) Experience in
Chicago, New York and Los Angeles,
as well as other major cities all show the same statistical
result.
I watched a Fox News actual video taken in New Orleans during
the great hurricane
fiasco where and elderly woman was visited by "law enforcement"
officers whom
she told she was O.K., had water, food, her house was dry and she
had a gun to
protect against criminals - - showing them a tiny hand gun.
The "law enforcement"
officers (so called) then body slammed her against a wall, took
away the gun and
carted her off to ??? The NRA got wind of this and NRA lawyers
went to a US Judge
and got him to issue an order that they stop grabbing guns and return
the ones they
had seized. No information as to what happened to the elderly
woman or her house
and possessions. SEE:
HOW TO Avoid/Survive Catastrophe
So, what is behind the "GUN BAN" philosophy?
The Rich and powerful fear ordinary, law-abiding
citizens. One of their fears is the
motive behind the second amendment in the
first place. The founders were very
aware that government can become oppressive
- - they had just fought a terrible,
bloody eight-year long war on account of oppressive
government. They felt that an
armed citizenry would preclude government
getting out of control (which they knew
could happen in spite of the constitution
- need we offer examples of that?) So, wealthy,
powerful people (such as NY billionaire mayor,
Michael Bloomberg and commedian
Rosie O'Donnel) have hired, armed protectors
- - but, they don't want ordinary folks
to have that protection - - because they don't
want any possible limits to their power.
Where private citizens can't keep guns to defend themselves, criminals
prosper,
criminal lawyers prosper and crime keeps increasing. Whenever
I am told by
anyone that "guns should be outlawed" I ask this question:
"The only people who profit by taking guns out of the hands
of law abiding citizens
are criminals and criminal lawyers - which are you?"
People don't like that answer - - but, they usually get my point.
The British government banned handguns in January, 1979, but recently
reported that
gun crime in England and Wales nearly doubled from 1996 to 2003.
Moreover, reports
say that crime has become so rampant in England that many don't
even bother to report
it when they are victimised - - partly in fear that the criminals
will come back and attack
them again.
The republic of Ireland banned and confiscated hand guns and center-fire
rifles in 1972
Murder rates rose five-fold by 1974 and, in the 20 years after the
ban, has averaged 114%
higher than the pre-ban rate (never falling below 31 % higher).
Jamaica banned all guns in 1974 but murder rates rose from 11.5 per
100,000
in 1973 to 19.5 in 1977 and to 41.7 in 1980.
A large number of peer-reviewed academic studies show that letting
private citizens own
guns reduces violent crime, and some work finds that gun crime drops
even faster than
overall violent crime. Others have directly linked this reduction
in crime to officer safety
Professor David Mustard in the Journal of Law and econimics specifically
tested this and
found that, on average, each additional year a state allows citizens
to carry concealed
firearms reduces the number of police murders by another two percent.
